Seed-time and Harvest, what is it and how does it work?

Many people will be cringing at this topic, they will have thoughts of "name it, claim it" prosperity teachings from 30 odd years ago. Or they will be thinking of the positive talk, if you say it long enough, you will receive it. Let me say right from the outset that this is Bible based, the Rules and Laws for this are all from the Bible

One of the scriptures that the "name it claim it" movement used was this: Mark 11: 24: "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Notice that is basically what it said, if you desire it and you believe it you can have it. Ah, if you read the 2 verses before it you will see that this name it claim is not going to happen.
Mark 11: 22 "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God."
23: For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
You seen anyone lately who can tell a mountain to get, remove yourself, and it has jumped into the sea or just flattened itself out. If you cant do that simple little faith thing, then how are you going to beleive for the desires of your heart? So you can be certain this is not about name it claim it.

Then what am I talking about. This is sowing seeds in the spiritual sense but it also follows the exact same agricultural principles for seed sowing. You need to plant your seed into good soil, you have to look after it, and then harvest it. Agricultural and spiritual the laws are the same, you do not harvest less than you planted, unless of course you forgot to water and look after the field.

So if you do not water your seed enough, you get what is called seed dormancy, the seeds will not germinate even though you have followed all the other rules correctly. If you have sown your seed and you are not getting a harvest, is God in violation of His word? No there has to be another reason, either the soil was bad to start with or you never watered it enough. Now when you plant a seed do you know what you will harvest? Of course you do, plant an apple seed and you will eventually harvest apples, not pears or plums. Most people who use this principle they are looking for a financial harvest so the seed they plant will be given a name, financial increase or something similar.

I have mentioned in another article that the word Blessing,or Blessed means 'empowered to prosper', another meaning is to 'Excel to increase', to multiply, that was God's plan for man from the very beginning.

Have you read the Parable of the Sower that Jesus used it can be found in Matthew 13: 1-23, Mark 4:1-20 and Luke 8: 4-15. Jesus teaches about a farmer who sows seed indescriminately. Some falls on the path with no soil, some on rocky ground with little soil, some falls into the thorns and some into good soil. The seed that falls on the path with no soil is just washed away, the soil in the rocky ground and the thorns just does not have the conditions to become fully grown to harvest but the seed that falls into the good soil will yeild a harvest of thirty, sixty or a hundred fold.

In Mark 12: 41-44 we are told about the "Widows Mites"
41: And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42: And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43: And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

The widow gave all that she had, which was far in excess what the rich men were putting in, we are not told, but, I am sure the widow got a harvest from those to mites.

2 Corinthians 9: 6 - 12
6: But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7: Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8: And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10: Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11: Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12: For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

God told Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden to be fruitful, another meaning for be fruitful is to producing in abundance. I have already mentioned both above and in another article, the word Blessing means 'empowered to prosper', another meaning is to 'Excel to increase'. Now that is a long long way from the normal religious tradition and teaching, that says "you have to be poor and the more poor you are the more spiritual you are, because God loves poverty". Well you can throw that one in the trash can straight away. That is the reason most churches these days are only just scrapping by. That is the reason most people in churches these days are running around in lack. That is not in the Bible, in fact poverty is part of the curse, and we as Christians are supposed to have chosen blessing.

Here is an example of some of the confessions you can pray over your seed to water it once you have planted it. There is a scripture verse to speak out followed by the confesion, speak both out as you remember your seed and if it makes it easy for you, visualise a pot of seeds being watered as you make your confession.

Genesis 8:22: "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."

Therefore I sow my seeds in faith knowing that the law of seedtime and harvest is working in my behalf.

Genesis 1:11: "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so."

Therefore I have sown my financial seeds, I am expecting them to produce after their own kind in the form of financial harvest

Mark 4:26: "And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;" and 27: "And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how."

Therefore I am expecting every seed that I have sown to grow and to spring up and to produce an abundant harvest

Job 36:11: "If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures."

Therefore because I have been obedient to God and have sown my seed I fully expect my days to be filled with prosperity and my years with pleasures

Psalm 115:12: "The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron."
13: "He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great."
14: "The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children."
15: "Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth."

Therefore because God has seen my sowing his mind is on me continually and I am expecting more and more financial blessings and more and more financial increase in my life

Luke 6:38: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

Therefore I am expecting good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over harvest from every seed that I have sown.

2 Corinthians 9:6: "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."

Therefore I am entitled to and I am expecting a bountiful harvest because I am a bountiful sower

2 Corinthians 9:7: "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

Therefore because I have given this cheerfuly and not under duress, I expect to reap the reward of the purpose of my heart

2 Corinthians 9:8: "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:"

Therefore I am expecting to have all sufficiency, more than enough, abounding in financial blessings so that I am able to sow into every good work that the Holy Spirit impresses on me

2 Chronicles 20:20: And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Therefore since I do believe in the Lord, my God, and I believe what His prophet has spoken today regarding my abundant harvest I am expecting this each and every day throughout this year to come to pass in Jesus name, so be it.

I am sure now that you have the idea you can find more scriptures that you could use, there are plenty of them in the Bible. Now you have prayed over your seed all you have to do is thank God in praise, simply say thank you father for my harvest.

Psalm 67: 5: "Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee."
6: "Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us."

So we have all the rules, this is your check list, you use every time you sow a seed.

Where you sow is important

Your attitude is important

How much you sow is important

The after care of your seed is important.

There is no limit on the number of seeds you plant, that is down to your circumstances. There is no limit on how much seed you plant, that depends on the harvest you are looking for. If you are still sceptical, then start low and pray for God to prove his word is true on this. If you are still uncertain, then I would say pray and ask God to clarify and show you further teachings. Ask God to show you the truth and as you seek you will find and be shown.

By the way this offering is not a replacement for your tithe, the tithe still stands and is paid first. Your tithe is not a seed, and the seed is not your tithe.
