The Feast of Trumpets, The Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles, these three feasts all fall within the same month and are the final three out of the seven given by God to Moses, they have as yet not been fulfilled according to the Scriptures. If you have already read the articles on the Spring Feasts of the Lord then you will see that these are the final three feasts of the Lord as given to Moses on Mount Sinai and recorded in Leviticus chapter 23. These Feasts as yet are unfulfilled but you can be 100% certain that they will be and you can also be certain it will be in equally spectacular fashion as the Spring Feasts were. These three feasts bring about the end of days, The book of The Revelation. These feasts are the rehearsals for the Rapture of the Saints, the second coming of the Messiah, the marriage feast of the Lamb, The Judgment.
If we dont know what is going to happen, then, we are open to believing whatever "turn or Burn", "prepper" shouts from the pulpit. Let me give you an example, some will say that you need to hide away until this tribulation is over, some will say that you need to dig a deep pit and build a nuclear proof bunker, fill it with canned food etc and therefore lock yourself away. The fastest way to die and kill everyone who is hiding with you is to lock yourself away in a bunker. One shaped charge on your door will set up a compression wave inside that will kill you in seconds. You can have as many canned peaches and toilet rolls in there with you as you like and it wont make any difference. As an ex tank soldier the best defense in the type of battle we are going to be facing is mobility, pick your battles and only fight the battles you can win. Once you know that, then the principles of survival are all you need, drink, food, shelter and defense, the most critical important first item to sort out is shelter. Lack of shelter can kill you within hours, you can survive without food and drink a lot longer, so first job is get shelter. Now when I say you are going to need to know by heart the Torah Law to survive do you think it will make any difference to how you read the Bible and what you learn. You may not have a Bible, but you are going to have to tell people about Jesus and not just the New Testament, you will need to show Jesus through the Old Testament. This is the reason for the feasts of the Lord, they are rehearsals, thye arethe practice sessions to teach the end times that the Jews have been practicing every year since they were given. That is over 3500 years of rehearsal the Jews have had so far, do you think they may know a few things that you need to learn.
The Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teru'ah) Falls on the First day of Tishrei. This is simply the one feast that NO one knows the day, or time on which it will fall. It is all dependent on when the New Moon happens, remember this is a Lunar calendar. The blowing of the trumpet for the field workers gathering in the harvest to come to the Temple. So if two people were out in the field harvesting, one a Jew and one not, the Jew would get up and leave, leaving the other person behind.
The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) will unfold on Tishrei 10. A day of confession, the highest of the Holy days. This was the only day when the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies and sprinkle the blood from the sin sacrifice onto the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant. A blood sacrifice is required by the LORD for our sin, "Hebrews 9: 22: And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission". This is why Jesus had to go to the cross, to pay the price of our sin. This agrees with the verse in Leviticus 17: 11: For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Jesus offered His own body up to be the perfect Sacrifice for all sins, sickness and disease. Because of His shed blood we are given complete atonement before the LORD. 2 Corinthians 5: 21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. If the old covenant and sacrificial system had been good enough to provide a permanent solution for our sin there never would have been a need for Jesus and a re-newed covenant to supercede it.
The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) happens on Tishrei 15. The third pilgrimage feast, every man must appear before the Lord. A Feast for 7 days here we are celebrating all that the LORD has done for us, our creator, our judge, the one who atones for us. But dont think you can sneak out early we have an eighth day in this feast and you do not want to miss this. This Feast represents the time of restored fellowship with the LORD, God's presence dwelling amongst His redeemed people. King Solomon is said to have dedicated the Temple during the Feast of Tabernacles (1 Kings 8). In ancient Israel it was a time of many sacrifices (Numbers 29) a time of so much joy that it became known as just "THe Feast" and it was also a sabbatical year, so every seven years, the Torah would be read aloud to the people (Deut. 31:10-13.). During the 7 days of the feast there is a sacrificial pouring out of water called a "water libation. The High Priest goes down to the pool of Siloam and return to the Temple with a pitcher of water which he would then pour out. "Psalm 118:25: Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. 26: Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD." would often be sung as this happens, we also have the account of Jesus in the Temple and shouting out, "John 7: 2 If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink".
King James Bible : Leviticus 23: 23-44
The Feast of Trumpets
23: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24: Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25: Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
The Day of Atonement
26: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27: Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
28: And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
29: For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30: And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
31: Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32: It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
The Feast of Tabernacles
33: And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
34: Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.
35: On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
36: Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.
37: These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
38: Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.
39: Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
40: And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
41: And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42: Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
43: That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
44: And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.
I feel I have to give a warning here about those who say that we must obey and celebrate these feasts.
King James Bible : Romans 14:
5: One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6: He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
We are clearly told here by the Apostle Paul that if you want to remember and celebrate a day unto the Lord, then do it, but if you do not wish to keep the celebration then dont. We are not allowed to judge anyone for doing it one way or the other. My thoughts here are why do you wish to hold onto the shadow picture of Jesus when you have the real Jesus living with you and in you.
